As the Marketing Director for Rutgers WiCS, I wanted to create an inspirational narrative for the hackers at the event. This was the first video project where I led a larger group, including the marketing team, cast, and film crew. I was used to working with one actor and a few helpers, so this was a big change for me. I also enjoyed teaching my marketing team about production and running casting calls with them.
This project helped me grow as a director and producer, while also bringing new friendships among WiCS members. I’m grateful to WiCS for giving me the opportunity to create something on this scale.
I had never used my own film gaffing gear until this project, so I was still figuring out lighting during our practice shoots. Since I didn’t have sound equipment or enough time to create foley, I focused more on the visuals and storytelling. The version premiered at the event also had minimal color grading, so I went back and regraded it later when I had more time.
